We’re stoked to announce Sports Dietitian @fitne We’re stoked to announce Sports Dietitian @fitnessdietitian.phoebe will be working closely with our athletes at MA! Phoebe has been working with Werribee VFL as their Head Dietitian and was part of their 2024 Premiership program. She also has over 4 years of experience working with individual athletes and running workshops for schools and sporting teams. 

For many athletes nutrition is the missing piece, as fueling the body correctly can have huge impacts on performance and recovery. 

If you’re looking to level up your performance and recovery or wanting a review of your current nutrition intake, Phoebe is offering consultations and meal plans.

With lots of sporting seasons in full swing – main With lots of sporting seasons in full swing - maintenance can often be the primary focus of training programs. 

We are always pushing the needle to improve throughout the year making sure we aren’t stagnating, which for us requires regular testing to ensure we aren’t missing things when it comes to programming for our Athletes. It also means changing and modifying exercises/training stimulus’s to ensure Athlete’s are excelling on-field/on-court.

Here’s a snapshot of some of our recent testing results from a few of our gun female athletes 

Well done to; 

@cocoburt_ who is now Ranked #1 for our ISO Mid Thigh Pull, while also hitting Aths, Basketball and playing Youth League aged 14! 🏀 

@caitlin_dennis05 who smashed her testing prior to Nationals and is now living it up over in the states 🇺🇸 

@aliyahcanepa___ who went beast mode in a mini block before Oceania’s and came back with a Silver Medal 🥈

@sebba.pan is competing in the Triple Jump - has had huge preseason hitting big numbers in the gym (is on the leaderboard for 4/5 tests) and on the track. Hit a bump in the road at states with a quad injury, but has had an elite prep over the last 8-weeks to put him in great condition to perform at the highest level this weekend. Today he is up 13% on his IMTP max force output and the strongest he’s ever been

@aliyahcanepa___ will compete in the Senior Women’s Hammer Throw - her prep has been almost faultless getting gold at States and throwing a PB this season. She also tested today and is up 12% on her IMTP max force PB and is the strongest she’s ever been! 

A big kudos to @samleslie_sportsphysio who we’ve both been working with closely with both of these guys - his direction bias programming and treatment has put both Aliyah and Seb in the best shape possible and outputting PB numbers to peak for Nationals. Sam and his team @myphysio_evolution truly are the best in the business

A big welcome to young gun @roman_filipovic2010 🎾 

Roman has just turned 14 and is already competing on National & International level. He’s a full time tennis player who trains under Michael Logarzo Tennis academy & Ljubicic Tennis academy in Europe.

He has also represented Victoria is part of the National Development squad tennis Australia. 

Roman is currently prepping two ITF tournaments in Fiji in a fortnight’s time. We’re wishing him all the best!

Testing batteries are designed to create individual profiles and allow both coaches and athletes to see areas of strength, weakness and asymmetry a variety of athletic attributes

The feedback then tells us how each athlete responds to their training program and if there are areas they need to spend more time focussing on than others 

A great way to cater training for individuals and ensure we are always striving for improvement in overall athleticism

Isometrics are a great way to increase muscle and Isometrics are a great way to increase muscle and tissue capacity and rate of force development. Completing yielding isometrics such as Bosch holds and most plank/side plank variations will build tolerance though the muscle tissue and help with rehab and overall resilience.

Completing an overcoming isometric exercise where the body is trying to move an immovable object is a great tool for rate of force development. Overcoming isometrics are also great for contrast training as there is high muscle fibre and nervous system activation during the isometric. Meaning when the load is lightened the body can express greater strength/power.

Provided are some examples of both yielding and overcoming isometrics.

Video 3: Supine single leg Bosch hold (yielding)
Video 4: Isometric cable rotation (overcoming)
Video 5: Isometric mid thigh pull (overcoming)

Lukas is a hard working and dedicated emerging foo Lukas is a hard working and dedicated emerging football player, currently playing at Caroline Springs the U18s Western Jets squad.
@lukas.har3 has been working with us for for 6 months. We have been working through some minor injuries and see some big improvements in his strength and power.
Lukas bring in great energy to the gym and everyone loves having him around!
B stance (or staggered/split stance) movements are B stance (or staggered/split stance) movements are a great way to add load to single leg movements. Slightly staggering your stance when completing any exercise can emphasise the loading of the front leg without having to rely too much on balance or coordination. B stance movements can also provide an insight on muscle imbalances when exposed to more load/weight.
When completing contrast training, B stance options can be great for single leg loading as well. The athlete can complete a right side strength based exercise before hopping straight into a right side power/speed based exercise for contrast. This again can be a good way to see imbalances and how well the athlete can translate their strength in to power on one side.

Provided are some options for B stance strength based exercises, but this can be implemented into a lot of lower body movements.
1. Box squat 
2. RDL
3. Hip thrust
4. Trap bar deadlift

Lucca is one of the most dedicated and driven young men we’ve had and makes others around him better, and anyone that’s seen him train in & out of the gym knows he doesn’t leave anything to chance.

His prep thus far has been faultless and we can’t wait to see what 2024 has for him with School Football, the Coates League and the State Carnival.
