This testing day is not only exclusive to those playing AFL, but accommodates for all field based sports. With testing done and dusted last week we can now With testing done and dusted last week we can now shift our focus on improving on the running technique of our athletes!
.
We completed all of these drills with a focus on maintaining a correct forward lean position to improve acceleration! Focusing on generating a good knee drive which will create a greater force ground reaction. Arm swing to ensure the body is balanced and aerodynamically sound when running in a straight line!
.
The aim and goal is for all this extra running technique to improve their 20m sprint times before their next testing session in 5-6 weeks!

Nothing like bringing out the best in your athletes with a bit of healthy competition in this mornings testing session. Bragging rights for the 20m sprint and 5-10-5 agility test were up for grabs.

A few key reasons why we test our athletes is to be able to gauge a level of improvement through the work we have been doing with them. Also to create a target for a return to play program if the athlete does unfortunately get injured.

@niccckbuykx with a 3.072 was just nudged out by @adam_riz with a 3.070s 20m. Great times for this stage of the pre-season.

Maddy enters her 3rd year in the VFLW system and is ready to take her physical preparation to the next level. Weโ€™ll be working closely with Maddy throughout the pre-season, even with a huge commute for her from Bendigo! Huge dedication. Excited to see where we can go.

I feel sometimes we try to be too elaborate and sexy with periodisation and programming. This might not be the perfect plan to some, but for Masonโ€™s team (himself, boxing coach, training partners, + us) itโ€™s simple and easy to understand so they can completely โ€œbuy-inโ€ to it. The terminology isnโ€™t exactly to the book, but as a coach Iโ€™m not the one who needs getting across the line.
. 
Having all stakeholders know what training focus/phase theyโ€™re in makes it easier for us to prevent burnout and really maximise adaptions as they roll into the next block and ultimately his fight night.

Looking forward to a massive 16-week block and a big W on March 13th.

Pre Season Goals:
1. Get Stronger
2. Be Powerful & Explosive
3. Play at highest possible level

After putting in the work they have achieved and improved dramatically in only a short amount of time
.
So Far they have both:
1. Increased Squat by 30kg
2. Increased Trap Bar DL by 30kg
3. Increased Bench by 25kg
4. Increased Hip Thrust by 20kg
.
Most importantly they both are feeling as good and more prepared then they ever have felt before!
Huge news from our guy James Anthony who has accep Huge news from our guy James Anthony who has accepted an offer from GB Junior Cycling Academy in Italy! Heโ€™ll be heading over to Italy in 2021 for the European cycling season to ride with the GB team.

An awesome opportunity for James who has been working with us and the guru @samlesliept from MyPhysio for the last 12-18 months, what an amazing feat for him and us as a team.

Now for 6-months of work and hopefully some success at the Nationals.
